Once again Prairie View A&M University decides to put homecoming and midterms on the same week! I'm really starting to think they do it on purpose to torture the students! Well not really, in all seriousness, having homecoming and midterms the same week has honestly benefited me. Last year, I thought I was not going to be able to balance both, midterms and partying. What the situation made me do is be a smarter student. If I knew I had a take home 250 question midterm due that Friday after the tent party, which I did, that just meant I need to have it finished by Wednesday night or Thursday afternoon. This way I was still able to enjoy the many festivities of the week. Not only did having homecoming and midterms the same week help me prioritize it also should me I work well under pressure but also that I can have the luxury of both worlds, partying and studying. In saying that there is a fine line that you must not cross. For instance, I knew I had class during the BET College Tour and we were taking our midterm in class, so I only spent thirty or forty minutes at the BET College Tour and I knew I had to go to class, likely for me my class was in Delco, which was right across the lawn. This year I am hoping I stick to the same strategy! I have to prioritize and realize you do not have to participate in every part of homecoming, only the key events!

I agree having them in the same week makes you really prioritize and put school first before the turn up!!
ReplyDeleteI think it has something to do with how few home games we play by October? Midterms are always the end of week 8, and you need a home game for Homecoming. It could have been back in September; otherwise it would be a month from now. I honestly don't know how coaches or divisions decide where games get played (my college had neither midterms nor homecoming).
